All About Ford Motor Oil Types

Adding oil to engine

Following your Ford’s regular maintenance schedule is the key to keeping your beloved vehicle for as long as possible as your daily driver in Elmhurst. A major part of regular maintenance is regular oil changes. How often you need to take in your Ford, or any make for an oil change depends on whether you use conventional or synthetic oil. Conventional oil needs to be changed every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, or twice annually. Synthetic oil on the other hand lasts longer and needs to be replaced every 7,000 to 10,000 miles. Ford strongly recommends using full-synthetic oil for your vehicle for optimal performance.

Ford Oil Types for Popular Models

The recommended Ford oil type for popular vehicles is mostly 5W-20 or 5W-30, but this depends on the model and engine type. Take the Ford F-150 oil types for an example. Ford recommends 5W-30 synthetic oil for older models, but it’s still advisable to use 5W-20–new or old. The Ford Fusion oil type varies from model to model especially. Hybrid Ford Fusion models take 0W-20 motor oil, whereas 5W-20 or 5W-30 is recommended for non-hybrid models.
